- Assists the sponsoring dealer and chapter director
in upholding the "Annual Charter for H.O.G. Chapters"
- Assists in planning routes for chapter rides.
- Educates chapter members about the Towing Reimbursement
Program.
- Assists in keeping chapter members informed of all
H.O.G. programs.
- Educates chapter members about group riding techniques.
- Informs chapter members of any hand signals used
by the chapter on group rides.
- Assists in obtaining signed release forms for chapter
rides.
- Acts as a guide for organized chapter rides.
- Will be responsible for bringing a well
supplied
First Aid to the ride.
- Expected to carry a cell phone for 911 cases or
towing needs. If the Road Captain does not have
a cell phone he or she will be responsible for locating
another group rider who does and designate that rider
as the 911 caller.
- Keep a list of contact numbers (ex. other Road Captains,
towing and emergency)
- Will be head of group, and ride left of lane center.
- Will be observant of any hazardous conditions or
conduct, take immediate corrective action as appropriate,
and inform the Head Road Captain at the earliest safe
opportunity
- When pulling on a freeway, or away from a signal
light or stop sign, maintain a reasonable slow speed
until the pack is reformed (on a freeway a 5 to 10 mph
under the maximum speed limit is recommended)
This prevents the rear pack riders from speeding to
catch up with the group.
- Will establish and maintain a uniform speed consistent
with the ability of the least experienced rider, and
with consideration for safe road, traffic and weather
conditions.
- Will be responsible for initiating all maneuvers
within traffic in a "safety first" manner.
- Will lead standard formation of a staggered double
row within a single traffic lane.
