Riding - AWOL Tour Book
[Safety] - [Hand Signals] - [AWOL Book] - [Helmet Laws] - [Riding]
The idea for the AWOL book got started when someone from an out-of-state Chapter came into the Rocky Mountain H-D dealership to get a stamp for their book. Troy saw it and thought it would be a great idea for our Chapter to use. He made a copy of it, showed it to Frank LaBarge, the Director at that time, and they put some new ideas in. It's been going strong for five years now, with new ideas added almost every year. The idea behind the book is to earn points for doing things either with the Chapter or out riding on your own.
You can earn points doing things with the Chapter by:
- Attending monthly Chapter meetings and rides
- Volunteering on a ride or event
- Writing an article for the HOG Snorts
- Attending the Colorado State HOG Rally
- Bringing in a new member
- Visit out of town dealerships
- Mileage - the more miles you put on your bike, the more points you get
- Different photo shots
- Spelling out "A Way of Life RMHOG 421" with the first letter of places visited
- Going to restaurants located in town and along the front range
- Attending out of state HOG rallies
Hopefully, if you've not already bought your AWOL book for this year, you'll give it some thought. It's a fun thing to do, and it becomes sort of a record to help you keep track of where you've been and ridden during the course of the year.
